BETTER Brands Jewellery founder Pedzisayi Sakupwanya, popularly known as Scott Kupa, was awarded with the Best Gold Buyer of the year at the inaugural annual Mining Industry Awards which were held at the State House yesterday.
He was handed the award by the President Mnangangwa.

Africa and bringing in strong international partnerships with big brands to scout for talent in Zimbabwe” says Ms Shally, Scott’s PR Manager.
The 43-year-old was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, where he grew up in the high-density suburb of Mabvuku.
“Growing up, he lost interest in school, he was so eager to start earning an income at an early age leading him to drop out of school when he was in form 2.
“His dreams and ambitions as a young man encouraged him to work at age the age of 14. He started working as a gardener for a white couple in Zimbabwe.
“The couple that employed him as a gardener operated a gold mine. Being a hardworking and dedicated man, the couple spotted Scott’s determination and offered him an opportunity to work
in their main business dealing with gold.
He started off as a runner for them taking Gold to the Government. “During his time working at the mine, Scott worked tirelessly to learn the ropes around the gold
business, facilitating high-level gold transactions with the government. He then decided to branch out on his own, and since then Scott has been unstoppable. His real breakthrough only came
about in 2021 after a whopping 24 years of dedication, amassing his current net worth of US$30million. “Being in the gold business for 25 years, Scott Kupa has learned from the best and has managed. to grow his business from strength to strength. Better Brands Jewellery is the only company in Zimbabwe that holds a license to export Gold. In 2021 Scott was announced as the Chairperson
of Gold Buyers Association of Zimbabwe in which he highlighted that through the association, he aims to end Gold Smuggling in Zimbabwe and pledged to protect the country’s interest in the
trading and beneficiation of gold,” reads a statement by Ms Shally.
